Oh Ow Kee is now 72 years old and he lives in Singapore. And he is kind of famous. Not the kind of fame like a TV star but when you search his name on google, many hits with information and images come up. I always used to see him in front of the Takashimaya department store on Orchard Road practicing woola with his up to 3.7m long weighing 5kg wood ball chains. I even saw him swing two of those around his neck and waste without hurting himself. He claims that you can learn it as well in less than fifteen minutes. Honestly speaking, I doubt that I’ll be able to.
Uncle Oh talks to the people walking by, doesn’t mind being photographed and he also sells these wood ball woola chains which are made by a local furniture shop and tied together by his wife. He also promotes a healthy lifestyle and practicing sports at any age. He discovered the wood ball chains in 2000 which he claims Β are an ancient art practiced by Chinese monks.
